Health Care Bill

Health care bill passes Senate panel 14-9.  What does this really mean?  The Senate Finance Committee, led by Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., voted to approval a proposal that would provide health care coverage for 29 million uninsured Americans, which will cost $829 billion dollars over 10 years, while somehow reducing budget deficits by $81 billion over 10 years.

Sounds like monetry "smoke and mirrors" and more congressional funny money numbers.  If something is going to cost $829 billion how can it save $81 billion???  The details of this bill will probably make medicare look easy to understand and who pays for what is a mystery.

Health care in the US now makes up approximately 14% of our gross domestic product, while in Japan it is somewhere in the range of 7% GDP.  The cost for health coverage and care is totally out of control and the government solution appears to be "spend more money".  When is someone going to look into why the cost is so high, before spending more money?

One final thought for senior citizens, based on David Jackson USA today article:  •Cost of premiums. Older people would pay more and younger Americans less under the finance bill compared with the other bills.
